Skiing is a sport for everyone! Catamount is proud to team up with STRIDE to offer adaptive skiing and equipment for individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
STRIDE Adaptive Sports is a volunteer nonprofit organization that provides over 11,000 adaptive sport and recreation lessons annually to individuals with disabilities. STRIDE utilizes over 350 skilled volunteer sport instructors, serves nearly 3,000 families, and offers programs in 18 different sports at 28 regional locations in the Northeastern US. With a focus on individual life-time sports, their programs use specialized equipment or teaching aids for successful participation to “level the playing field for all.”
Stride educates and empowers individuals with special needs in life-changing skiing programs to sustain healthy, active and fun lifestyles.
No one should be left behind because of a disability.
STRIDE Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Program
Two and one half hour private lessons including equipment and rentals are offered to adaptive skiers. Each year, STRIDE’S trained and certified staff teaches hundreds of lessons on the slopes of Catamount. The ski and snowboard program offers a variety of adaptive methods with mono-ski, bi-ski, 4-track and 3-track equipment, and serves clients who are visually impaired, hearing impaired and developmentally delayed. Each lesson is individualized for the participant’s specific skill level and needs. For more information about STRIDE and its programs, please click here to visit Stride’s website.
